On May 5th, the 137th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) offline exhibition successfully concluded in Guangzhou. The highlights of this year's Canton Fair are diverse, breaking historical records in key indicators such as the number of participating companies and the number of overseas buyers attending, demonstrating the strong resilience and vitality of China's foreign trade, and building a solid bridge for global trade exchanges.
The total exhibition area of this year's Canton Fair is 1.55 million square meters, with a total of about 74000 booths and approximately 31000 participating companies. Among them, the number of participating companies in the export exhibition has exceeded 30000 for the first time, an increase of nearly 900 compared to the previous edition. There are about 1600 exhibition spaces for imports, with 736 companies from 50 countries and regions participating, which is basically the same scale as the previous edition. The Canton Fair has 55 exhibition areas and 172 product zones, covering a wide range of topics including advanced manufacturing, quality home furnishings, and a better life.
In terms of the quality of participating enterprises, this year's Canton Fair has newly introduced the "Measures for Improving the Quality of Participating Enterprises in the Canton Fair", with over 4200 new participating enterprises. More than 9700 enterprises have been awarded titles such as National High tech, Specialized and Innovative Little Giant, and Manufacturing Single Champion, an increase of 20% compared to the previous edition. There are about 3700 companies related to "New Three Types", digital technology, and intelligent manufacturing, over 17000 companies with independent brands, and nearly 22000 companies that have passed various international certifications.
As of May 4th, this year's Canton Fair has attracted over 280000 overseas buyers from 219 countries and regions, an increase of 17.3% compared to the same period last year, and the number of attendees has reached a historic high. From the source of purchasers, 187450 purchasers from countries jointly building the "the Belt and Road" attended the meeting, accounting for 64.9%; The number of buyers from BRICS countries increased by 24.1%; Traditional market buyers in Europe and America achieved a growth of 3.4%. 223 of the world's top 250 retailers and major merchants from various countries and regions have confirmed their participation in the conference, up 9.9% over the same period of the previous session. Leading enterprises such as Wal Mart and Target in the United States, Carrefour and Andahou in France have confirmed their participation in the conference.
The trade transaction results are equally outstanding. On site intentional export transactions reached US $25.44 billion, an increase of 3% over the same period last year, of which more than 60% were in countries jointly building the "the Belt and Road", becoming an important force driving the growth of transactions. Traditional market transactions have also maintained a stable trend. After the closing ceremony, many buyers went deep into the enterprise for on-site inspections, and there is huge potential for future cooperation.
In terms of exhibition features, this Canton Fair added a service robot area in the first phase for the first time to focus on the latest achievements of China's artificial intelligence development. This area is popular, popular with professional buyers, and becomes a new business card of "China's intelligent manufacturing" going to sea. At the same time, a new integrated housing zone will be established, and multiple themed zones related to emerging industries will continue to be set up. The online platform has also been further optimized, with a download volume of 148000 times for the Canton Fair APP. This year, two versions of the APP for buyers and suppliers have been upgraded and launched, providing more accurate services and powerful functions. In addition, this year's Canton Fair also held more than 1000 trade promotion activities, covering industry conferences, new product launches, the "Trade Bridge" series of trade promotion activities, etc., providing more opportunities for exhibitors to exchange and cooperate.
As an important window for China's opening up to the outside world and a key platform for international trade cooperation, the Canton Fair has been held in Guangzhou every spring and autumn since its establishment in 1957, and has been successfully held for 137 sessions so far. The successful holding of the 137th Canton Fair has injected strong confidence into the development of China's foreign trade and created good opportunities for economic and trade cooperation among enterprises around the world in the context of the complex and ever-changing global trade situation.
